Video Producer for the Foreign Desk | 2012 to 2014

As producer, I worked with the foreign desk's weekly webisode called “World Desk with John Yearwood." I would collaborate with the desk's deputy editor and reporters to find how to best craft a deep-dive look on foreign issues. I also directed, booked and wrote the scripts and questions for the show. Spearheaded paper’s first live-stream talk show that aired on the day of the 2013 Presidential Debates and moderated post-debate Google Hangout show, which featured distinguished panelists.


The Sun Sentinel

Interactive Media Editor | 2009 to 2010

Directed content for entertainment sections of SunSentinel.com, which ranked among the country’s top 15 interactive sites for attracting more than 40 million hits monthly. 

Collaborated with features department editors and reporters to redesign pages, published weekly newsletter and wrote online content for restaurant and food pages.

Gained experience launching and updating large-scale venue databases that tied in calendar listings, mapping tools and detailed venue descriptions.

Increased reader interaction by packaging photo galleries that incorporated parent-recommended restaurants. Content successfully drove traffic and was picked up by parenting sites and bloggers around South Florida.

Responsibilities included writing and assigning restaurant, lifestyle and nightlife pieces to a team of reporters and
photographers for Tribune’s entertainment daily.

Aggressively followed analytic tools to better understand online behavior, anticipate reader activity
and grow site from launch to more than 2.6 million monthly hits.

Extended shelf life of event coverage by packaging behind-the-scenes photo essays that detailed pre-show action a week
or two weeks before an event took place.

Created Liquid Engineering, a drink recipe guide that was the most-emailed item on the site. The guide was successfully
cross published in print editions of Sun-Sentinel and City & Shore magazine.

Developed weekly packages for the local CW News, a Tribune-owned broadcast station that reached around 1.5 million homes in Miami-Dade and Broward. I was responsible for script writing, producing, reporting, shooting and served as on-air talent.

Co-founded Miami’s first bi-lingual online magazine, which required managing a 20-person team including reporters based in South America. Publication covered politics, arts, fashion and immigration issues that were of interest to young Latin American and Caribbean professionals in Miami.

Served as a contributing panelist for CNN’s ‪prime-time special‬ “‪The 'N' Word” with Don Lemon to debate racial slurs

Appeared on ‬Erin Burnett OutFront to discuss ‪Nelson Mandela’s legacy and my recent interview with Mr. Mandela's former wife and daughter, Dr. Makaziwe and Ms. Tukwini Mandela‬.

I also deliberated a controversial ‪statement made by ‪Megyn Kelly of Fox News about there being only a white Jesus and white Santa‬. Check out the segment.

Current TV | Ad Messaging Creator in 2012

Produced, directed and co-wrote for Current TV's ad buyer, Hershey's. The 60-second commercial ran for one year on the Emmy-Award winning cable network formerly owned by the United States Vice President Al Gore.
